COMMUNITY SERVICES
- Family
Emergency Relief (05/01/10)
-
- FER is an emergency intervention ministry of
Wyoming United Methodist Church and we assist those in deep need, on an
individual basis. The caseworker is available Monday,
Wednesday and
Friday from
9 AM
until 12 noon at 697-8400. Referrals come from our church members and
Social Service agencies in the Dover Area. We help on a one-time basis,
offering furniture, food or financial assistance, and sometimes a
combination. A client is not eligible to be helped again
for 12-24 months, as we are an emergency support organization. There is
ongoing assistance available through state and non-profit agencies and we
refer clients to those agencies as well as other ministries in the area.
FER can always use more VOLUNTEERS
for drivers and helpers for pickup/delivery as well as helpers for
caseworker assistance, furniture tagging, and general organization.
Vacation Bible School
(05/01/10)
- VBS is offered every June for a week. It is held in the
mornings for children ages 4 years to 6th grade and is a time of fun with
singing, crafts, games, dramas, Bible stories, and more. More detail is
available on the VBS page.
- Evangelism Team
(original)
-
- Our evangelism team is focused on introducing the
community to Jesus Christ and Wyoming UMC. We do this in a variety of ways,
including movie nights, music events, community events such as harvest
festivals, community fairs, etc. If you would like to serve with this
ministry please contact the church office @ 697-8400.
-
- Food Pantry
(2/05/09)
-
- Volunteers obtain, fill, and deliver food requests
received and accepted by our case manager from various community resources,
i.e. social workers, school nurses, guidance counselors, and members/friends
of our church family. Our goal is to provide a 2-3 day food supply,
perishables and non-perishables, to families in crisis, - lost home, lost
job, major health issues, etc. We deliver within a ten mile radius of our
church. Please call our church office 697-8400, if you wish to refer a
recipient, serve with this ministry, or have questions.

- Soup Day Team
(10/08/07)
-
- Soup day is scheduled for every second Wednesday, October
through March, except for December. This is a mission ministry, and we only
charge $3.00 for the meal. All proceeds are used to buy needed items for the
two homeless shelters in the area. We also take a large pot of soup to each
shelter and quarts of soup to our shut-ins. Please contact Howard Priestley
@ 697-1828 or hapkrp@yahoo.com if you are interested in serving on this
team.
